Return to Wicklow Mountains

Wicklow Mountains.

Some weeks ago, the Polish-Basque expedition to Wicklow mountains could not reach the top of Camaderry mountain. Bad weather conditions, made impossible to leave the base camp, so the mission had to be aborted.

Weeks later, with the help of Giolla, the new Italian member of the expedition, the Fellowship of the Ring, tries to cross over the snowed mountains near the Saruman’s tower, Ups! Sorry, but the tower is quite similar.

Giolla, equipped with high quality waterproof shoes which easily got mimetic with the mud, and a light weight wind-cutter, and special globes for finger protection, Artzai, equipped with his own very good orientation, , end very detailed maps, and Marcin as group leader. 10% because his accurate orientation, 20% because of his good canon camera, and 70% because of his precious car





This time we were equipped, skilled, and ready, there were no way, finish the way, or death in it,….








We started walking up to the Celtic cemetery and round tower, while looking at the snow-covered hills near, hoping that St Patrick would protect us from the dark clouds we were looking at the sky.



The dark water of the river, remembered us ancient stories about elves and fairies, and we still had hope of finding a leprechaun with his plenty of gold cauldron.




As we walked, we got inside a impressive oak forest, in which, probably, celtic druids, had picked up, herbs and plants for their potions.



Animals did not realize our presence, and we could take some beautiful photographs of them.




After crossing the forest, it was time to leave the black lake, and to start reaching the mountain top, his snow covered top did us realize that we would be aware of the weather.






We started going up, and the snow appeared soon, we were surprised because of the cute stairs going up, maybe would be a pub on the highest peak, we were in a national park, it could be possible,…

Fortunately, there were only snow, rocks, and wind and we found no pubs in our way, …

But, when Snow appears, Snow wars take place,…




But any war ends at any time, and reconciliation and peace come up




And also the sightseeing was marvelous.





The weather was being so nice, it was cold, it has been snowing a bit, but was OK, however, all of this changed just on the other side of the bridge,…





The walk up to the top of the mountain was a bit, we didn’t know how to say,

Frightening?




windy?,




cold?,




all of this, but, first of all, it was marvelous and nice, …

After all of this, we arrived to the top peak!!!



And we started going down up to the lake by the other side of the mountain



But snow appeared again,…




Hopefully it does not lasted too much




And the sun shined again….



And we came back to the lake,knowing that we have had a big day, …
